Lots of pasta sauces in Italy are based on the combination of butter and Parmigiano cheese, but they aren’t called “alfredo”!  The story goes that Roman restaurateur Alfredo di Lelio, who was beloved by American tourists, named a cheese and butter sauce after himself.  After some Hollywood actors dined with him in Rome, they returned to the US sharing with their friends about this sauce…and that is how Alfredo sauce was born!

  1. Carbs are our friend!  From risottos to handmade pastas, delicious focaccia bread to thin, crispy pizza; Italian food has perfected these food must haves!
  2. Cream and milk!  Without these 2 necessities, we would be missing many Italian favorites like gorgonzola sauce, burrata, tiramisu, gelato…need we say more!!
  3. Simplicity!  The best dishes are made with just a handful of ingredients (think tomato and basil sauce, chocolate and hazelnuts!!).  Fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection is all you need to make wonderful meal!
